The three R’s…

As Elke beat me to the post this morning – and this is serious! I love collecting post and opening it, especially when there are little parcels! They might be for me! – I made a point of getting the paper this afternoon.

A boy has got to practice his reading. I feel I made a rather good job of spreading the knowledge, don’t you think?

And afterwards I had a well deserved rest on the new ‘sofa’ on the veranda. From here I can check on that squirrel that keeps pinching the hazelnuts out of my tree and making holes in my lawn to bury them.

Squirrels, accounts and pheasants

Ok, so today after my early morning walk which included chasing a few squirrels up trees it promised to be a pretty boring day. After putting me on the grooming table Elke got out the large picnic table to sort out the accounts, and I settled down for the day watching her and looking out for postman Dave (he always has a biscuit in his pocket!!!)

After several hours of sorting and groaning she suddenly picked up my lead and said “Let’s go have some fun.” So off we went in the car to Roche Abbey to chase some pheasant! You’ll need your speakers on to hear them when you’re watching the clip.

All the noise is made by the birds. It’s glorious fun. One time one of them didn’t fly away properly only up a tree and sat on a branch. It just sat there! So I barked at it. And still it wouldn’t move. But then Elke whistled for me to come back and I had to go.

All in all I stayed clean for about 6 hours today – that’s a bit of a record actually.

Crisis over!

Halo

We’ve had a little bit of a crisis for about a week… I kept running off. Elke says I was ‘hormonal’.

One day I disappeared for 30 minutes just running off and walking around the woods with my friend Jake instead of coming back to her – and she was having kittens. She was waiting for us by the carpark. Then I wasn’t allowed off the lead at all for a week!

Elke found out the reason for my wayward behaviour – Gipsy the young alsation girl who lives behind our house was in season! Now that she is back to normal again I’m ok too. And I’m being good again and walks are off lead (see Martin’s visit). Phew!

It’s much more fun being off lead, you can go and chase things properly. I chased at least fifty pheasant at Roche Abbey. That was great!

PS. My halo is courtesy of Sammie @ ziggyanimations.co.uk. Thanks Sammie!
