I’ve got troubles … of the emotional kind … (sigh)

TroubledFinni

You see … Nelly and I do everything together …

Together

… and she kinda looks after me …

CaringNelly

But now we’re not allowed to be together … sigh … until next Tuesday!!!!! … and I have to sleep in Mum’s bedroom …

I miss her! … and the little things she does …

Pinochio

The only one who understands me is Martin …

MyMate

Luckily Martin is here every day. I spend a lot of time with him.

MyMateMartin2

You see, he is building our new garage. That’s why we haven’t been blogging much lately.

This is what has happened so far:

Garage

This is where our old garage used to be. Dad and Martin dismantled it one day whilst Mum was away on one of her study days.

DaveDigger

Then Dave came with his big noisy digger and pulled the old concrete pad up.

Foundation

Then Martin and Dad prepared the new foundations, and

NewFoundations

a great big cement mixer lorry came and Martin, Dave and Dad laid new foundations.

And then another big lorry came and brought loads of blocks and huge bags of sand and stuff

Blocks

And this is how it looks this evening. Martin is really cracking on with it.

Progress

Sigh! … and that is Nelly in the foreground! I was on a walk with dad even though I keep telling them I don’t want to go any further – can’t we go back home now!? Please!?

PeeEss: Nelly’s leg problem seems completely ok now and when she has finished her season (Tuesday!) she will be going on walks again. 😀

Thank you to everyone who has been asking after her!

Home guard

Well,we’re having a bit of sunshine lately and Mum is pretty pleased and goes round in the garden taking pictures of flowers – yes we have flowering plants here in the middle of winter. This is one of her favourites. It’s an orange Hamamelis or Witch Hazel.

WitchHazel

We have a yellow one as well which looked like this last year.

Mum has kind of started on her New Year’s Resolution which was that this year she would learn to give us Airedos herself. So she went to Sheffield and came back with some new clippers. We would just like to say Thank You very much to Yopin from Woodseats Superpet who was a great help and went out of her way to advise Mum on how to do it. The clippers are great – quiet (Nelly gets a bit nervous with buzzy things!) and they don’t get hot.

I did say Mum started; well the front of me is pretty good and it’s great to have less hair around my ears and eyes! The back is work in progress! Here’s a picture of the front …

Nelly has pretty much accepted that she has to stay at home while I go for walks now. I think it helped when I told her that she has an important job to do while I’m away … she is the Home guard! She is pretty keen.

KeenNelly

I told her exactly what to do while I’m away …

FinniTeacher

She did her best to take it all in.

There is a lot to learn,

Nelly is in Biiiiig Trouble!

NellyInTrouble

As you all know my little sister is on ‘bedrest’ because of her poorly leg/hip. … Well, the first few days she was ok with that and quite enjoyed it.

This morning Mum went out to run some errands and closed the babygate between my room and the kitchen where Nelly stays when Mum is out (so she doesn’t start a mad ‘biteyface’ session while Mum’s out!). All I could hear was a lot of bouncing about and then ‘RIIIIIIIIIP!’ and loads more bouncing and some more ‘RIIIIIIIIIIIIP!, ‘RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!’

And this is what Mum found when she came home …

ShrededBasket

Nelly had only completely trashed her new basket! Naughty Girl!

ButterMelt

Look at her! Butter wouldn’t melt …

All that was left for her to sit on was the mat from inside the basket.

Sooooo, … Mum put her thinking cap on and fetched in an old feeding towel of ours and proceeded to try and repair things.

PatternMaking

She made a pattern of the cushion and cut the towel out around the cushion giving plenty of seam allowance …

Nelly helped with the colour matching …

Then it was time to pin and tack things together …

Tacking

and finally try and sew it all around the bottom of the basket …

Sewing

There! Good as new!

NellyRelaxing

… and this evening she is luxuriating back in her own basket as if nothing happened! She says it smells nicer now – a bit like dinner!

Nelly is a typical 16 month old teenage ADT – full of energy and drive. She is getting really bored because she can’t let off steam. She is tons better for having had a complete rest. She can get up normally off the floor at any time of the day now. She will however remain on ‘bedrest’ for a good while longer with just short walks to break the boredom. I just hope the terry toweling is strong enough to last the course … redface
