WOOOOHOOOO I’m a DAD!

The phone call came at 6am this morning. Bonzo had given birth to four beautiful puppies! So after my morning walk Mum drove straight down to Melton Mowbray to see them.

Aren’t they beautiful? Mum took videos as well:

The lip smacking noise is made by the little fella on the right

He is proper latched on and is doing some good kneeding to get the milk.

I’m saying ‘He’ (and here is the embarrassing bit!) but we don’t know what sex they are. They seem to all be the same but we don’t know ….. what. Sue has a friend who can tell but won’t get there until Monday or Tuesday. So if anybody knows how to tell … let us know.

Until then …

Bye for now.

Reminiscing …

We got an email from Sue today:

“No puppies yet but Mum getting fatter everyday and eating++”

++ means loads! I suppose Bonzo is eating for … uhm … 10? Actually we don’t know how many puppies there are going to be, just that there are some.

Me and Mum were reminiscing a bit today, looking at pictures of me when I was a puppy. This is me and my brothers (4) and sisters (3) … I’m one of eight. We’re five and a half days old here.

Mum thinks I might be one of the ones on top of everybody as I had a tendency to lie on top of things when I moved in.

I think I already mentioned Elk, in fact Elk was the deciding factor in choosing me. As Mum and Dad had no idea how to choose a puppy, they just threw Elk into the pen of boys and waited to see what happened … Mum says in retrospect that might not have been the best strategy as I was the only one not at all interested in hoomans or being picked but got straight to work on Elk. Mum says that things haven’t changed much there then …

Anyway Elk remained my best friend throughout puppyhood.

I came to live here at seven weeks old, I was a tiny boy.

I felt pretty much at home almost everywhere in the house. Mum calls this the ‘Inverted Curl’. I still sleep in this position.

This is me on the doormat which I totally reshaped later. At one stage it was round!

Dad made a special intermediate step so I could get in and out of the kitchen into my little garden.

Aah, those were the days!

Anyway, Mum’s got her directions all printed out and the car filled up with petrol. She’ll travel all the way to Melton Mowbray when the time comes …

Bye for now.

Gooberstanian Beard Growing Competition

Hi All,

Mum finally got round to prepare my entry into the Annual Gooberstanian Beard Growing Competition. I think I’m going to enter 2 out of the 3 categories – ‘Most Improved Beard’ and ‘Best Muddy Face’.

We had a little disagreement on my initial measurement, I thought my beard was around the 5 inches mark

but Mum said biting off the first 1.5 inches of the ruler was cheating and not allowed!

In the end we settled on a freshly groomed 3.5 inches!

Plenty of room for ‘improvement’ there then! The entry for ‘Best Muddy Face’ is completely Kosher though:

I wish I had somebody to hang on my beard like Ludo! I wonder if Dad would accept that as valid reason for getting a little sister … If anybody can think of any good ideas on how to persuade Dad – please let me know!!!

Anyway, we had a lovely weekend as Amelie turned ONE today!!! She has been walking for the past few weeks – proper upright stuff like Mum and Dad! She keeps visiting me at the babygate and pulls my hair – I love it.

Bye for now.
